Canned Food Drive and K-Town Crazy Sock Drive/Fundraiser Concert

I know it's been a while since my last post. The holidays were so busy with traveling and preparing for my last semester at Mendocino College. Plus I'm about halfway done with my Miss California paperwork and completed lots of shopping for my competition wardrobe! Stay tuned for all the exciting news while I prepare to compete at state!
But I want to tell you all about my last two appearances.

Canned Food Drive
On December 14th I was at the courthouse in Lakeport to collect food and cash donations for the annual canned food drive. This year, all the money and food was donated to Saint Mary's Immaculate Church in Lakeport.
I went around to each department to chat and collect.
It was a lot of fun and I ran into a few friends along the way.

Chatting with some of the women in the courthouse.
Counting some of the donations to keep tabs on which department donated the most!

Some of the checks we received!

Our last stop to collect was the District Attorney's office.

It was such a rewarding day!

K-Town Crazy Sock Drive/Concert Fundraiser

This was so much fun! Jennifer Humble who was Miss Lake County 2012 came along with me to this concert.

Shout Out to Taj! This is an amazing thing you guys do!

Here I am as I put my donation into the basket and with K-Town! These socks will be donated to Shriners Hospital in Sacramento so that the kids have some fun on their feet!

Thank you to Pulse Studio for the exercise!

Before the concert started, we did a little Zumba to get all warmed up! Of course I did the workout in my crown!! Hehe!

The concert was wonderful. I always love listening to this talented group because their music is so inspiring and uplifting.

Thank you so much for inviting me Taj. I always enjoy being there!

Kelseyville Parade and Hotcakes for Heroes

Kelseyville Christmas in the Country Parade

On Friday, Julie Ann and I attended the parade in Kelseyville. There was so much to do along Main Street.
We rode in style for the parade in a horse drawn carriage!

Thank You Nathan for getting such a great picture of Julie Ann and I!
We made sure to dress warm and bring our gloves!

Hotcakes for Heroes

Sunday morning was a fundraiser for Operation Tango Mike. This organization is a community effort sending monthly care packages to deployed troops.
Learn more about them here.

Old and young came to support and have a yummy breakfast!
We got the chance to talk to a lot of people from different walks of life.

Enjoying our yummy breakfast!

Thank You Ginny for having us! (This woman is phenomenal!)

Some local Marines!

The Salon at High Street Village

Ribbon Cutting

Last night was the ribbon cutting for The Salon at High Street Village. It's such a lovely salon with everything you could need for beauty! I highly recommend you check it out!

Cindy Strong was so kind and such a wonderful hostess. I had a lot of fun talking with everyone and seeing all the products and styling tools they offer at the salon. I even left with some goodies of my own!

Lakeport Lighted Christmas Parade

Oh my we were busy on Saturday! Our first stop was Santa's Workshop where Santa was taking pictures with the kids! We passed out maps for the elf on the shelf hunt. The game is for families to go into local business's along Main Street and find the elf hidden on the shelf! They have to find the elf on each store listed and have it signed off by an employee. After all of the stores are checked off, the card goes into a drawing for prizes!

Kelseyville High School's Miss Bass Bowl 2012 Maleah joined us for the lighted parade as well. After all the meeting and greeting, we worked up an appetite! We went to Cheese's Main Street Pizza in Lakeport.

Yum Pizza!

Then it was time to get ready for the parade. We went into Prisco Clothing on Main Street to change in the dressing rooms. The owner of the store showed us the catalogs of gowns that she can special order. We know where we're going for our state competition wardrobe!

A big thank you goes out to Jeff Hansen and his wife of the Corvette Club for driving us in the lighted parade. It was so much fun meeting everyone and climbing into some beautiful cars!
